Apr 26

Since the beginning of time sales funnels have always been a part of traditional marketing and business. I've noticed that funnels designed for Internet business are becoming increasingly popular.

The truth of the matter is that folks are eager to learn more about this marketing concept and how they can apply it to enhance their online business marketing efforts. If you'd like to learn more about sales funnels to help you with effective Internet marketing I invite you to continue reading.

What is the Sales Funnel?

A marketing funnel is not an actual funnel. For this marketing concept, "funnel", is used to describe and visualize the entire sales process. Because it uses a wide opening for customers who are "Unqualified Prospects" at the top, and an even smaller opening for converted sales in the middle, the funnel can be a precise comparison.

We may call these "unqualified prospects" at the top or at the beginning of the funnel. These are the those who may require your services or products however haven't been contacted by you before. After many sales calls and offers later, you have reached people who have bought your product or services.

Another reason the concept of the lead generation funnel works is that it allows you to monitor your potential prospects actions throughout the expanded sales process. It's possible to forecast the number potential customers using the sales funnel by knowing the numbers of prospects who are qualified throughout the process.

A sales funnel will help you see the areas where your sales strategy is failing or successful, or whether your campaign isn't attracting enough customers. This information helps you choose the best place to focus your efforts to ensure that sales are on the right level and to meet marketing goals. It helps monitor and manage customers' sales processes.

The Sales Funnel Top, Front or End

The top of your sales funnel is going to be the most active area of your sales funnel and will require the most consistent testing. Your imagination and resources will only limit the number of front-end strategies you can develop.

The primary objective of the front-end is going to be to draw potential customers and turn them into buyers later in the sales process.

The potential customer is "qualified" once they opt-in or sign up for something you offer. This is where the prospective customer, or "Unqualified Prospect" is now an "qualified lead. They've taken action that shows that they may be interested in your product or service.

For your front-end to be effective you must be able to bring targeted traffic to your website, blog or squeeze page. The most effective methods and resources to accomplish this include articles marketing, PPC adverts, social media (Google+, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube), banners, blogging, forum posting, content marketing and more.

There are many methods to "qualify" an "unqualified potential customer. One of the most effective is the use of an online squeeze page, that allows you to offer something of value that is pertinent to your product or service that folks can get at no cost or at a drastically reduced price in exchange for their email address and name. The products offered vary from video and newsletters to ebooks, e-mail courses, related reports and more.

This shows that people are attracted to your sales channel at the front end. The back-end is what we should be focusing on.

The Bottom of The Funnel: The Back-End

The back-end or bottom of the sales funnel is where the major sales and profits are made. It typically contains your highest priced products. Basically these would be relevant to the same niche however they are delivered in a different format such as video, audio, live interaction or private consult.

The main difference between front-end and the back-end is the kind of client and also the price of the service or product that are provided.

While it's true that just a small percent, say 1-2%, from the total number of people entering into your front - end will finish up in the back-end. This is fine, as this small group will be investing much more in the long run.

It is clear that although front-end products or services are priced below $100, back-end products and/or services are often priced in the 100s to 1000s. This means that the top of the sales funnel or back-end, the main source for revenue for your Internet company. It's also the most predictable and secure area of the sales process.

As I said earlier the sales funnel is customizable as much as your creativity and resources permit.
